Dutch Garden Tools: a profitable WooCommerce online shop for the US market

The challenge
Dutch Garden Tools is the US distributor for Sneeboer and sells high-quality gardening tools on the US market, a large and competitive playing field. To grow profitably there, not only must the website’s discoverability be right, but so too must the foundation of the online shop: the delivery costs.
With standard plugins, it was difficult to calculate those delivery costs accurately. They often turned out to be too high or too low, resulting in loss-making orders. The costs had to match reality; otherwise, the margin would be eroded with every order.
The solution
In 2023, we built the online shop from scratch using WooCommerce. For delivery charges, we integrated directly with the FedEx API: we calculate the exact costs based on dimensions, weights and different types of shipping boxes. This ensures that the delivery charges reflect the actual costs, keeping the online shop profitable and enabling it to continue to grow.
Since 2026, we have also been managing SEO and Google Ads campaigns specifically targeted at the US market. Through technical SEO, structured product data and product feeds, we build strong online visibility, and through Google Ads (including Performance Max), we drive real revenue.
We feed first-party customer data into Google Ads from WooCommerce. For every order, we send the hashed customer data and click IDs server-side as offline conversions with enhanced conversion data. This way, Google Ads learns which clicks lead to actual revenue, we allocate a limited budget as effectively as possible, and we grow responsibly through online advertising.
In addition, we use review marketing: we collect reviews from the online shop, enrich them with the relevant product data and syndicate them to Google. This helps Dutch Garden Tools build authority and trust, which in turn further boosts its growth.
