Did you know that MailChimp is a great way to boost your link authority? Creating and sending a newsletter is often time-consuming, and you’ll see most of the benefits within 24 hours of sending it. Link from your website to the newsletters and you’ll reap the benefits for longer in the form of higher link authority.
What is MailChimp?
MailChimp is a US-based company specialising in sending newsletters. It has since grown into a global player. MailChimp is now moving more towards becoming a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool, allowing you to store more customer data in addition to email addresses. Earlier this year, it became clear that MailChimp was does not fully comply with the GDPR legislation (privacy). This is because MailChimp stores sensitive personal data in the US, whilst European legislation requires data relating to European individuals to be stored on European servers. It is only a matter of time before MailChimp addresses this, as its use amongst European companies is very widespread.
Publishing newsletters on your own website
Every newsletter you send via MailChimp is given a public link. If you post that link on your website, you’re enabling Google (and other search engines) to find that newsletter. They index the content and then see a number of high-quality links to your website. The domain ‘domain-archive.com’ (where MailChimp stores newsletters) has sky-high link authority (DR 91/100) and, what’s more, dofollow-links too. This way, you’ll get more enjoyment out of your newsletters. Most of the impact of newsletters is only visible 24 hours after they’ve been sent.
Personalised newsletters
Email marketing is certainly not dead. The most important thing is that your newsletter is personalised. So make sure you include as much relevant data as possible. However, be careful about what sensitive personal data you store with MailChimp. An email address, first name and filters aren’t too much of a concern, but if you also want to store the surname, gender and date of birth, it’s better to look for an alternative solution for privacy reasons. If you also want to use newsletters for link building, other email providers will follow a similar approach to MailChimp. MailChimp is simply far more popular, so you’ll achieve better results with it. With effective personalisation, you’ll get a higher open rate and more clicks from people who already know your business. Everyone knows that you’re more likely to convert someone you already know than a prospect. If not, now you do.
