How can you get changes to appear quickly on Google?

You’ve published a new article and want it to be easy to find on Google. How do you go about it? The quickest way is to advertise on Google Ads, especially if the domain name is new. There are also tactics you can use with SEO, but the chances of success in the short term are lower than with Google Ads.

A solid foundation in SEO

With a solid SEO foundation, you can get new content to rank highly very quickly. That foundation consists of:

  • Fast loading times. This is a crucial factor.
  • Ensure you have a high domain authority.
  • The presence of structured data.

In addition, the following features help to quickly notify Google of new content on the website.

XML Sitemap

An XML sitemap is a file containing all the web pages on the website, including their last modified dates. Google automatically finds the XML Sitemap if it is accessible at ‘/sitemap.xml’. The more frequently the website is updated, the more frequently the XML Sitemap is read and processed.

Manual indexing

Google Search Console provides webmasters with valuable information about their website. If important content has been updated and you want Google to index it more quickly, you can submit a manual request by entering specific URLs. You’ll still have to wait for Google to index it, but it’s quicker than doing nothing.

Index API

Changes to job vacancies can be updated in real time in the Google search index. By linking the CMS to the Google Index API, every request (new job vacancies and changes to existing ones) is processed immediately. The job vacancies are displayed on Google Jobs.

Keep publishing content regularly

If new content is published on the website regularly and existing pages are updated, Google will pick up on changes more quickly. If the domain authority is high, this helps you achieve top rankings more quickly. If your SEO isn’t quite up to scratch yet, you’ll need to use Google Ads. SEO Ninja also uses Google Ads to ensure immediate visibility. Once your SEO has achieved the right rankings, you can always decide to use Google Ads differently. It’s the result that ultimately counts.

First, check whether Google can access the site

Everything mentioned above assumes that Googlebot can access your site. That is no longer a given. If you’re using Cloudflare, a block on AI crawlers may now also prevent Googlebot from accessing your site, in which case no sitemap or indexing request will help you. In Block AI crawlers without losing your Google rankings You can read here which setting you need to check.
